Ah thanks, Jeremy! I wondered where the flurry of new subscribers were coming from this morning – I must return the compliment!

Shout out for The Big Read. It is perfect combination of low pressure and gets me to read titles I probably otherwise wouldn’t. Several have been true gems.

Love a book club! I also really enjoy a Silent Book Club - just the simple act of being around others while reading even if we don't speak. It also fills a space of community and connection for me (as an introvert). I haven't done an in-person one in a while, perhaps it's time again. Thanks for the post!

My wife and I do a lot of Silent Book Club time 😀 it’s great!

In my family, we have a word for this in Swiss-German (something akin to a „book huddle“) so that it becomes extra easy to ask hey do you want to just sit on the couch / lay in bed and read ?

Ah I love that! What’s the word?

Läsihufe :)

It's something my partner and I need to do more of!

I started and ran an online book club for guys, but found Zoom to be a really crummy way to hold meetings. Need to make an effort to find something local...

Yeah Zoom decidedly isn't great. I actually find online forums to work better than video chats. In person is definitely the most rewarding though!

My virtual book club does some fun „visual“ traditions to make it fun on video. For example, when we start discussing the book we hold up fingers for how many stars we would give it. Immediately you want to find out why someone only gave it a 2. or what someone else loved it. Or why the person who generally has similar opinions to you didn’t this time around

Ahh that's a great idea! Love it.

We hear many of the same observations from our judges. They LOVE being able to talk about books with other passionate readers, learn about books they would never have otherwise heard about or read! Thanks for sharing that there is a social side to reading joy.

Love it! Thanks for sharing. :)

You can also read books on The Pigeonhole. It provides the opportunity to read with others and comment as you read. So you can have a conversation within the book - in real time. It’s a fantastic platform for all of the reasons you shared. I would like to share your reasons in a Pigeonhole post - if that’s okay…

I haven't heard of it! Thanks for commenting, I'll check it out. :) Definitely feel free to use these for a post!

Yes, yes, yes!! I love reading with others. Hearing someone else perspective is always eye opening. Books are wonderful, but books plus community is even better!
