A couple of weeks ago, I shared a Note that seemed to strike a chord with a lot of people:
An empty notebook is wildly rich in symbolism. Who can resist a new, unblemished notebook and all the wondrous ideas that can fill its clean pages?
The problem is: Once I write in a notebook—whether journaling, making to-do lists, or brainstorming—I have to keep the momentum going, or else it’s gone for good. If I’ve taken a long break from a particular notebook, it feels weird to return to it. But I also can’t throw it away.
Alas, it follows that I have a large box of notebooks that aren’t even half used, and yet I still buy new ones. Tis the burden of being a writer, I suppose.
I’m a sucker for Field Notes. I love the portability and I use them for just about everything—lists, card game scores, big ideas. They’re the only notebooks I can regularly fill. Currently, my favorite collection is the National Park series.
Okay, your turn. I need to know what your favorite notebook is!
Only my ugliest notebooks get filled up because I’m not afraid to use them. The beautiful ones get saved for important but as yet unspecified purposes.
I love Leuchtturm 1917 notebooks.
They're sturdy, nice to touch, and always open fully.
Haven't looked back since I've started using them.
