The List: 5(ish) reads for the July 4th weekend

Given that I’m quite obviously really into American history, it should be obvious that the last list before the 4th of July would center on patriotic reads. These are some of my favorites.

All of them are patriotic, but none of them ignore the striking contradictions that are infused with the American promise of freedom.
