Thanks for the Links! A question I've wanted to ask seems appropriate, given today's newsletter. You've done several excellent articles about how to read more, and today on giving yourself grace for not remembering all the details. I'm wondering how, amidst your chock-full life, you find time to write, edit, and publish. You've just hinted at writing in the evening while casually watching TV. I'd love to hear some of the other strategies you've developed over the years.
Great question! Let me noodle on how to best answer that — it might be worth posting something like "My Writing Routine."
A couple quick things though: I've been writing in my spare time for a loooong time. Since I was a kid. So I've become *very* efficient. Most of the time I can write 500-1000 words an hour. So part of it is definitely just getting faster with a lot of practice.
So I'm writing *most* nights from 8-9pm with the TV on in the background. And on weekends I'm usually writing 1-2 hours each afternoon. That covers most of it, honestly, though there are times where early morning sessions are needed.
In terms of editing, my wife reads everything I write. :) It's less of an intense edit and more of a "Is there anything that seems pretentious? That doesn't make sense? Am I being unclear at all?"
Thank you, Jeremy! An essay would be awesome. This framework is helpful. It's about putting in the work where you can find/make time. The accumulation of experinace helps - but it is still time in the seat, writing. I'm grateful for your feedback and openness to sharing.
Thanks for the "Campus Novels" list! A favorite of mine in that category is "Straight Man" by Richard Russo - highly recommended if you haven't read it.

Haven't heard of it, thanks Eric!
