Pigs in Heaven is brilliant and one of my all time favorite novels. Bean Trees too. I love the way she writes about real political issues in her books without them ever becoming political.issue books. I liked Animal Dreams a lot too, a standalone love story set in the SW that I think came right after PiH. I loved her nonfiction books too, the essays of course bit also the family memoir Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.
Of course that's just my opinion. I loved Prodigal Summer, but I warn people that the first 100 pages were tough for me to stick with. I was not hooked quickly!
I read Pigs in Heaven so long ago I can't comment on it. I agree about Poisonwood Bible. It's a fine and important book and I've heard that for some readers, it's their favorite. I especially liked her Flight Behavior (Monarch butterflies and great characters). And Prodigal Summer--three separate stories, all of which I liked, that come together in the end. I also liked her non-fic Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. Always something to learn, and something to feel, in her stories!

Glad to hear that the books I haven’t read are just as good. :)

You haven’t read David Copperfield yet? That should be remedied immediately.
I agree! Perhaps I’ll prioritize it this fall.
Demon Copperhead is one of my absolute favorites. I also was really inspired by Animal Vegetable Miracle.

I have been a longtime fan of Barbara Kingsolver and have read all of her books. It would be challenging to pick a favorite.
The lamb-raiser and the park ranger were in Prodigal Summer.
