What was the best book you read in June?
Plus the Anderberg family's favorites
Hey there, readers!
Once again, it’s time to chat about our favorite reads of the previous month. Here’s what our family most enjoyed in June:
Jeremy: I loved Barbara Kingsolver’s Pigs In Heaven, her sequel to The Bean Trees. On the non-fiction side, Gilbert King’s Devil in the Grove was easily my favorite of June.
Jane: Our book club read Andy Weir’s The Martian in June and it scored pretty high ratings all the way around. It’s not the world’s best writing, but the story is a certified page-turner and Jane felt immersed in the Martian setting.
Graham (nearly 9 years old): After blasting through Stuart Gibbs’ Charlie Thorne series, Graham moved to his Spy School series. Great stuff.
Willa (6 years old): The middle kiddo is just starting to read her own, which always feels like a magical moment. As such, she’s getting interested in starter chapter books. Pets Rule! was a fun one this month.
Bo (3 years old): Finally, a Pete the Cat book that doesn’t grate on us. I Love My White Shoes is a delightful little story that everyone can enjoy.
Alright — your turn! What was your favorite June read?
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
The Trees by Percival Everett. I had no expectations about this novel and, in fact, I picked it up because I wanted to read James by the same author, but am on a long reservation list at the library (currently 14th in line….) Fantastic group of characters, very clever plot and writing, am very much looking forward to reading more by Everett.
