What you have wrote is what many of us feel. I cannot believe just how quickly a well used very popular platform which Twitter was, has been destroyed. I have yet to close my Twitter account, not because I still use it regularly because I don’t. I guess it’s just a case of sentiment and having had an account for so long. And maybe I am hopeful that things will improve and go back to what they were. But after being dismantled in the way it is I cannot see that being possible. Too much damage has already happened.

I have opened a Threads account and it’s ok. It takes a bit of getting use to but I hope it improves as it continues to be developed. You can follow me at nea27

Yeah it's hard to know what the future holds.. will people still use it as X? I have a hard time believing so, but we'll see.

Will be adding "Hatching Twitter" to my audiobook list, because I'm a sucker for drama. & who knew that Twitter was invented as a result of a hackathon at a podcasting company?!

Great one! Nick Bilton's other book, American Kingpin, is also great and very cinematically told.

agree -- I loved the breaking news aspect of Twitter when I first joined. Unfortunately, I haven't found that to be the same on Threads, but am still holding out hope. Maybe it's good for us to all abandon social media anyway. Please follow me at donnadianejones.

I've found newsy elements on Threads by following outlets and favorite journalists — it's worked pretty well for me, honestly, but definitely not the same as Peak Twitter.

Good point, I should follow more news outlets and journalists. I will work on that!

You hit the nail on the head with that bit about the Very Online wanting to get back Twitter's golden era. Honestly, as a avid Twitter user, Elon's changes haven't had a direct impact on my personal user experience yet. I've noticed more accounts engagement-fishing, but that's about it.
