The Nineties has been on my TBR since it came out. This review is pushing it up the list, sounds fascinating.

I ended up enjoying "The Nineties" more than I expected. I think I had the same hopes as you in terms of the journey through pop culture, history, music and politics, and while I had plenty of moments of "Oh yeah, *that* happened," I also realized that the book was more about the Gen X experience of the decade, something they lived through as young adults. I didn't start high school until the '00s, so being a 'child of the nineties' meant that I didn't have personal memories of a lot of the stuff he talked about unless it happened after about 1997. A child's view of any time period is so much more constrained than a young adult's, and it made this much more interesting reading as a result.
