Issue #299: featuring Shirley Jackson, Stephen King, and Edgar Allan Poe
“Don’t read this if you’re into cats” should be the subtitle for The Black Cat.
“a couple of sloppy old drunks” 10/10 (I have his collection too and this is one of my faves as well!!)
Fun "fact": despite not being any kind of a sports fan (I'd rather play than watch), I almost became a fan of the Baltimore Ravens when I heard they were named after Poe's poem because he is a Baltimore native. Almost.
"The Lottery" and it's imagery have stuck with me since I first read it in college. Phenomenal bit of writing. For Stephen King, I haven't liked many of his books but his short stories can pack a punch. "The Lawnmower Man" is super creepy.
