I read Left Hand of Darkness for the first time in 2023 as well (thanks, Little Free Library) and my only previous experience with Le Guin's is the wonderful Wizard of Earth Sea (YA) books. I'll definitely be looking up more of her adult fiction and short stories.

These both sound really interesting, so thank you for two new additions to my TBR pile!

I've heard a lot about Ursula K. Le Guin's work before but have yet to read any of it. This might be the first of her work I try, as I really enjoy books that play with structure in the way you described that book does. Thank you for a lovely post, as always!

I read The Left Hand of Darkness when I was in college in 1970. I reread it last year and found it much better the second time around. The journey of escape was powerful.

I loved listening to The Country of the Blind. It was interesting to hear the perspective of someone who has lost a lot, but not all, of his sight, and his own particular frustrations with being in that liminal space - with being in limbo.

I have The Country of the Blind on my TBR, I heard a few mentions of this book in various podcasts and was definitely intrigued. Your suggestion to listen to the audio version is a great suggestion - thanks!
