If you have not seen the TV show Hannibal, I strongly recommend giving it a shot. To my mind much better than the film versions.

Came here to say this. Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Gillian Anderson (!) - stacked cast at the peak of their powers.

Jeremy said, "I almost always dive into the mystery/thriller genre this time of year."

I agree. I'm getting ready to start The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny. (Speaking of good series!). And looking to London Rules by Mick Herron. (Another good series.)

I hope to get to reread The Spy Who Came in From the Cold again before reading Karla's Choice, then reread Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Gotta love Le Carre.

Yep, I agree----this time of year fits in well with thrillers and mysteries.

I've not read Le Carre!

You might want to give him a try. Cerebral thrillers.

“I want story and character and world-building.” Sounds like you want Brandon Sanderson.

I somewhat recently watched Michael Mann's Manhunter (1986) and only realized part way through that it was an adaptation of Red Dragon....had no idea it had any relation to Hannibal Lecter going into it!

Great picks! Red Dragon is a fav.

Thanks! Have you read the others in the series?

Just Silence of the Lambs, which is also good, not surprisingly!
