When I was in college and trying to figure out what my faith meant in an independent and personal way—i.e., not influenced by my parents—I dove into the burgeoning world of watching online sermons from famous megachurch pastors: Craig Groeschel, Mark Batterson, Erwin McManus, Andy Stanley, and Mark Driscoll.
I have not listened to the podcast yet, so my comments may be skewed. That being said, I would recommend the book Jesus and John Wayne. For me it was an insightful read into that culture. The patriarchy and nationalism evidenced in the book and the evangelical Christian church could only have lead to the downfall of Marc Driscoll.
If you have an opportunity, I highly recommend reading the book.
