Jeremy, I'm thoroughly enjoying your newsletter, and have found we have some books and interests in common. Do you have a recommendation for a good biography of Taft? I've been looking for one for some time, and he doesn't seem to have been a target of many biographers.
There indeed is not much on Taft. I read Doris Goodwin's "Bully Pulpit," which delves into TR and the journalism of the era as well, but does cover WHT's life pretty well. I didn't hesitate to count it as my Taft bio. Otherwise, I know the Pringle 2-volume set is considered the most comprehensive.
Hi there ... following Goodwin's excellent "Bully Pulpit" I decided to supplement it with the American Presidents Series offering, which pretty adequately filled in some gaps ... but not deeply.

Yes, I read the Bully Pulpit and thought it was excellent. I hadn't seen the Pringle set...I'll take a look. Thanks for the quick response!

Yes, that's what I've generally found with the American Presidents series as well. They're fine, but inevitably leave me wanting more.
